We Recently introduced you to Fall River’s new fire chief…Jeffrey bacon. He starts next week. This week we sat down with retiring Chief Roger St. Martin.

Chief St. Martin steps down at the end of this week after serving nearly 37 years within the department.

Chief St. Martin has held just about every rank within the department from firefighter, lieutenant, captain, district chief, and deputy chief.

In his two years leading the department, Chief St. Martin is proud to have played a role in improving safety among the personnel and keeping fire apparatus up to date.

Chief St. Martin has also led the effort in making repairs to the city’s fire stations. He is confident that in the coming months, the department will be fully staffed to its complement of 195 firefighters.

Chief St. Martin says he will miss the service that goes along with being a Fall River firefighter.

In retirement Chief St. Martin will continue to be an instructor at the state’s firefighter academy.
