Polls for the Mayoral Preliminary Election in Fall River close at 8:00 tonight. According to Board of Elections Chairperson Kelly Souza Young,  there are 48,134 registered voters in the city, and 29 precincts, adding she predicts a 30 percent voter turnout in today’s race.

The three candidates vying for the top post are incumbent Mayor Jasiel Correia II, School Committee member Paul Coogan and political newcomer, Erica Scott-Pacheco. The names of the two finalists will appear on the ballot in the November 7th final election.

Fall River residents can watch tonight’s final election results live on local channel 95, and on Facebook, as they are made available after the polls close.
