Celebrate School Vacation Week at the Library!

Spring is here, the weather is warming, and it’s almost time for school vacation week. The Fall River Public Library is ready with a week’s worth of fun. Our theme is “Under the Sea,” with a week of activities celebrating the wonders of the deep blue sea! Children can meet SpongeBob and Patrick, go fishing for prizes in our indoor pool, search the room for hidden treasure, make a fish bookmark and more whenever they visit the Children’s Room during this week. Children can also register to win a treasure chest filled with books and other aquatic goodies!

The fun starts on Saturday, April 16, when Mirabel from the hit Disney movie Encanto visits the library. Mirabel will be available from 11 am – 12 noon to greet fans and pose for pictures.

The library will be closed on Patriots’ Day, Monday, April 18. When we re-open on Tuesday, April 19, the Under the Sea Week festivities will begin. Direct from their watery home in Bikini Bottom, kids can meet SpongeBob and Patrick from the popular cartoon series. SpongeBob and Patrick will visit the library from 1 pm – 2 pm to greet fans and pose for pictures.

Next, on Wednesday, April 20, we’ll have Storybook Bingo at 11 am, with a chance to win fun prizes in a book-themed bingo game!

On Thursday, April 21, at 11 am, we are offering a very special Balloon Twisting Workshop with the extraordinary Ed the Wizard! Ed will teach kids how to make their own undersea octopus balloon creation. This event is recommended for ages 6 and up. Registration is required, as space is limited. To sign up, contact the Children’s Room at 508-324-2700, ext. 4. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Later on Thursday, April 21, we’ll have a Family Movie Matinee at 1 pm, showing Sing 2. Then, from 4-5 pm, kids can try out the new BEAM interactive game system, a virtual playground that gets kids up, moving, and having fun! BEAM is recommended for ages 4 and up.
