Mayor Paul Coogan and the School Community Partnership late last week announced that Durfee High School senior Ashley De Pina Nunes has been named the 2021 Fall River Youth of the Year.
Sponsored by Partners for a Healthier Community, the award recognizes the positive contributions by youth to the Fall River community.
Ms. De Pina Nunes was recognized for her strong academic record as well as her contributions to Durfee’s National Honor Society and her community work as a member of the state’s Project 351 program.
Ms. De Pina Nunes will attend Brown University in the fall to major in Neuroscience and Deaf Culture.
