The FABRIC Arts Festival, a celebration of art, music and community that got its start in Fall River in 2019, will launch its latest edition later this week.

FABRIC was developed by local businessman Michael Benevides of Portugalia Marketplace and Azorean curator, Jesse James as a way to introduce Fall River to the arts festivals held overseas, featuring traditional and modern art and performance.

For the first time, the festival is being held over multiple weeks and is expanding to locations outside Fall River.

The festival has added more ticketed events this year but there is still plenty of free activities for all to enjoy.

Mr. Benevides says with the expansion of the festival into Providence and New Bedford, and with Bristol Community College in Fall River holding events, there has been more collaboration than ever in creating the festival schedule. He foresees that trend continuing.
