A news release from the office of Mayor Jasiel Correia is informing the public that the Cemetery Department will be removing all winter baskets and memorial objects beginning today, Mary 8th.

All decorations, votive candles and/or any other novelty item must be removed prior to the April 6, 2016 date.  The Cemetery will remove and dispose of any and all items/decorations which remain on a grave site or are placed on a grave site after this date.  Enclosures of any kind, including fences, ditches, rocks, decorative curbing or landscaping stone and similar edging items must be removed. This also includes the removal of shepherd hooks, ground staked solar or garden stakes and any other items inserted into the ground.

Any planting or shrub on grave sites must be maintained to insure that that it does grow higher than the grave marker/stone or encroach on another lot or it will be removed.

After April 6, 2016 the City will reserve the right to remove and dispose of any and all items remaining on grave sites or encroaching on another lot.

Cemetery regulations regarding permitted flowers and/or decorations will be posted on the city website and signs will be posted at both the Oak Grove Avenue and Prospect Street entrances prior to May 1st when Memorial Day placements are set to begin
