Here are the events taking place this week at the Fall River Public Library:

Our next big holiday event will be Grinch Night on Tuesday, December 14 from 6-7 pm. The Grinch will visit the library to greet fans and pose for holiday pictures. This event is open to Whos of all ages, the tall and the small, and every child who attends will get a special Grinch Craft to take home!

The Children’s Department is offering weekly take-home crafts. The craft for the week of December 13 is a Christmas Pig tree ornament! Pick yours up in the Children’s Room while supplies last. Also, when you visit the Children’s Room, pick a Holiday Twister from the jar for a chance to win one of more than 30 stuffed Christmas stockings!

Play & Learn, sponsored by Fall River Schools, is held Wednesday, December 15 at 10 am.

Our Books & Tea group meets on Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm. All readers are welcome to attend and share book recommendations. Then, our Magic: the Gathering group meets at 5 pm. Players of all ages, including those new to the game, are welcome.

Due to popular demand, the library is hosting ANOTHER Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament! The tournament will take place on Saturday, December 18 from 11 am – 2 pm. Kids and teens of all ages are invited to sign up and show off their skills against other Smash Bros. fans! Many may enter, only ONE will win! This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Fall River Public Library. To join, call Taylor at 508-324-2700 OR email tsilva@sailsinc.org.

Also on Saturday, December 18, our Chess Club meets from 1-3 pm. Adults, as well as teens 13+, are invited to join us for a casual game of chess. Other board games will also be available.
