WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE LIBRARY? (Shark Week Edition)

Stay out of the water—but do visit the library during Shark Week, August 9-13, 2021! Here are some of the exciting events for kids, teens, and adults happening at the Fall River Public Library.

Starting Monday, August 9, kids can pick up a 3D Floating Shark Craft in the Children’s Room. This fun shark is easy to put together and makes a great pool toy or bath buddy. They will be available all week or while supplies last.

And speaking of sharks, visit the Children’s Room anytime this week to take part in our Shark Week celebration! Take your picture inside some giant shark jaws, check out our display of shark books, pick up your shark craft, “walk the plank” across some “shark-infested water,” take home a FREE shark book from National Geographic, and enjoy other fun surprises.

Also on Monday, August 9, at 4 pm, we have a Sand Candle Craft for older kids and teens, ages 12 and up. Teens can create their own candles using colored sand, glasses, and electronic tea lights. To register for this free event, call Taylor at 508-324-2700, ext. 123, or email tsilva@sailsinc.org.

On Tuesday, August 10, at 11 am, don’t miss our TEDDY BEAR PICNIC! This beloved annual event will take place on the library lawn. Kids are invited to bring their favorite teddy bear or other stuffed toy to enjoy a teddy bear beauty contest, teddy bear parade, and teddy bear stories and songs. In case of rain, the event will be held Friday, August 13 at 11 am.

Then, we’ll go from fuzzy back to toothy on Wednesday, August 11, at 11 am when Seymour Shark swims by the library! Kids can meet Seymour from 11 am-noon in the Children’s Room.

Also on Wednesday, we have a Magic: the Gathering meetup from 5-6:30 pm. Players age 12 and up are invited to join in the game. Beginners are welcome! For more information, call Taylor at 508-324-2700, ext. 123, or email tsilva@sailsinc.org.

Then, on Thursday, August 12, at 11 am, the library welcomes DONALD AND DAISY DUCK! Donald and Daisy will visit the library from 11 am-noon to greet fans and pose for pictures.

For more information on any of these events, visit the Fall River Public Library online at fallriverlibrary.org or call 508-324-2700.
