The City of Fall River will receive a $2.5 million state grant to help the cost of replacing the sewer pump station on Wilson Road and provide backup water pump service to the far north end and the industrial park.

The grant came through the state Department of Housing and Economic Development’s MassWorks Program. Paul Ferland, Administrator of Public Utilities, says the grant will allow the city to move ahead to replace water and sewer infrastructure that was installed and maintained since the 1970s.

Ferland says the project should not impact residents in the section of Wilson Road just east of Route 24.
