August is International Overdose Awareness Month and Recover Fall River is organizing events to shed light and put a face to the severity of the problem within the city.
Laurie Godwin of Recover Fall River says this Saturday, August 14 the group is organizing an event where those who have died of an overdose will be on public display across the city as a sign against the negative stigma that the addicted and their families face.
The group will hold a resource fair, memorial display and procession on August 31 beginning at 4:30 pm that will focus squarely on the severity of addition within Fall River. Godwin says addiction is an illness and not taking it seriously is detrimental to those who are addicted and their families.
