Those in recovery from drug or alcohol abuse often need more help than just treatment. HealthFirst Family Care Center’s Opioid and Alcohol Recovery (OAR) program provides added holistic support for those looking to reclaim their lives.
Dr. Heidi Peterson works with nurses and social workers in the OAR program to ensure attention is paid to all aspects of the lives of those addicted. She says that starts with understanding the specifics of substance abuse.
Dr. Peterson says the 60 or so patients in the OAR program are never stigmatized and are made comfortable. Along with referring patients to appropriate inpatient or outpatient treatment programs, OAR takes the extra step in making sure the patients can return to being productive citizens within the community.
What makes the OAR program unique is the staff’s commitment to continuous follow-up with patients for as long as they feel they need to get back on their feet.
Those interested in the OAR program can be referred by a medical professional or be self-admitted. For more i information, you can call HealthFirst Family Care center at 508-679-8111.
