In a couple of weeks, Fall River students will be heading back to school. When they arrive at their respective buildings, Mayor Sam Sutter hopes they will be greeted by people in uniforms directing traffic.

As was previously announced by the Sutter administration, school crossing guard positions were cut when the FY16 budget took effect on July 1st; however, Mayor Sutter is keeping his fingers crossed that the cut positions will be filled by the start of the new school year.

In order to accomplish this goal, the mayor has been working in conjunction with Police Chief Daniel Racine and Superintendent Meg Mayo-Brown to find solutions to best fund and implement crossing guards by the time September rolls around.

No determination has yet been made.
