What’s Happening at the Fall River Library in OCTOBER?

Happy Spooky Season! We have some exciting October happenings at the Fall River Public Library. Here are some fantastic fall programs—spooky and otherwise–coming soon for adults, kids, and teens.

All Month:

Pumpkin Patch Game, Children’s Room: There are over 30 goofy, gorgeous and ghastly looking pumpkins in the library’s pumpkin patch but only 10 of them are hiding surprises! See if you can guess which of these giggly gourds is hiding a prize when you visit the Children’s Room and check out a book!

Monday, October 2: Spooky Trivia Night, 6-7:30 pm. Do you love scary stories and frightening films? Are you an expert on vampires, werewolves, and ghosts? Here’s a chance to show your scary skills! Join us for a trivia night with a horror theme. There will be prizes for winners, sponsored by the Friends of the Fall River Public Library!

Tuesday, October 3: REGISTRATION OPENS for Beaded Suncatcher Workship, 10 am. To sign up for this adult craft workshop, call the adult circulation desk beginning at 10 am. The program is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17 at 6 pm.

Saturday, October 7:

READING RUMBLE Storytime, 11 am. Families are invited to join the wrestlers of TOP ROPE PROMOTIONS for a special, slam-tastic storytime and craft! Kids can make their own Lucha mask and wrestling belt.

Wednesday, October 11:

Mentalist LON CEREL, 6 p.m. Is it ESP … or magic? Lon Cerel, voted Rhode Island’s best party entertainer, will mystify the audience with his amazing mental feats!

Monday, October 16:

Book Talk: MURDER IN A MILL TOWN with author Bruce Dorsey, 6:30 pm. When mill worker Sarah Maria Cornell was discovered hanging on a Fall River farm in 1832, and a minister was accused, it sparked a sensational trial that followed would be Fall River’s most famous murder case until the Borden murders 60 years later. Sponsored by Friends of the Fall River Public Library.

Tuesday, October 17:

Beaded Suncatcher Craft Workshop, 6 pm. Stephanie Enloe from the Craftyish Shop will present a free workshop. We will make suncatchers, using an assortment of beads, charms, and other objects. Each unique suncatcher can be hung in a sunny window to accent its colors. Registration is required: see October 3.

Tuesday, October 24:

Haunted Halloween Storytime, 4 pm. Join us for spooky tales, silly songs, and more Halloween fun. Kids are invited to come in costume!

Wednesday, October 25:

REGISTRATION OPENS for Dyeing to Wear It ® fabric art workshop, 10 a.m. Fabric artist Rhonda Fazio will lead a class in coloring silk scarves with nature-derived dyes. The workshop, scheduled for November 13 at 4:30 p.m., has limited space and registration is required. Call the adult circulation desk at 508-324-2700, ext. 2, to sign up. Limit two signups per call.

Thursday, October 26:

Haunted Halloween Magic Show, 6 pm: Magician Tommy James presents a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween-themed magic show! You’ll witness the amazing floating head of Dracula! Gasp at the appearance of a haunted jack-o-lantern! Come face-to-face with ghosts and more! Get into the spirit of the season with this frightfully entertaining show! Recommended for families and kids grades K through 5. Sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union.

Saturday, October 28:

Ceramic Pumpkin Craft, 11 a.m. Kids are invited to paint their own Jaw-Dropping Jack-O-Lantern, then light them up with colorful tea lights! They will make the perfect decoration for your home this Halloween! Children will be using acrylic paints so they are encouraged to wear old clothes. All materials will be supplied. Sponsored by Debby and Richard Danner.

Tuesday, October 31:

Meet Vampirina / Spooky Stroll, 2 – 4 pm. Meet everyone’s favorite vampire, Vampirina! Her appearance is part of the Downtown Spooky Stroll on Halloween! Families can take their picture with Vampirina and pick up a CREEPY take-home craft to make!
