The Fall River Redevelopment Authority is moving ahead on its plans to devise a strategy for how to best use close to 19 acres of waterfront property that will be available once the reconstruction of Rte. 79 is complete.
Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Sarah Page says the city has hired consulting firm Stantec, which has worked on city development projects in the past, to guide it in the best way to utilize the land.
Ms. Page says economic and aesthetic considerations will be taken into account as the development plan takes shape. Public input will also be part of the process, with hearings likely to take place this spring and summer with a draft development plan to be presented in the fall.
In other waterfront development news, the city is ready for the first full summer of activity on the Thomas Norton City Pier.
The Redevelopment Authority is also looking to open resident access on a stretch of land between the city pier and Point Gloria.
