Here are the events slated to take place at the Fall River Public Library in the next two weeks.

Here at the Fall River Public Library, we are gearing up for Summer Reading Club and offering some exciting programs for all ages! Here are some highlights coming up for the last week in June and first week in July.

Tuesday, June 27:

Storytime Under the Tent, 11 am: Enjoy an outdoor storytime under our story tent. The storytime will be held in the meeting room in case of rain.

Teen Anime Club, 6 pm: Teens are invited to join our monthly anime club to talk about their favorite series and discover some new ones. We will watch a different anime episode every month and share some tasty Japanese snacks!

Wednesday, June 28:

Magic: the Gathering: 5 pm—7 pm: Teens age 12-18 are invited to join us for a weekly meetup to play the world’s most popular trading card game! New players are always welcome.

Thursday, June 29:

Drums Alive! 1 pm: Join us for an exciting participatory event involving drumming and movement for the whole family! Drums Alive will set your heart pounding and wake up every part of your being! This event will take place outdoors beneath the Elm Street tent. In case of rain,it will be held in the Meeting Room.

BEAM Games, 4 pm—5 pm. Kids 4 and up are invited to join us for an hour of lively interactive games. Walk-ins welcome!

Friday, June 30:

Children’s Tie-Dye, 11 am: Celebrate the summer with a little blast from the past! Come catch some rays and make your very own groovy tie-dye shirt! Supplies will be provided–just make sure to bring good vibes! To sign up, call the Children’s Room at (508) 324-2700, ext. 4. Sponsored by the Friends of the Fall River Public Library.

Board Game Afternoon: 1 pm—2 pm. Join us every Friday this summer starting June 23 to play some fun board games! Beat the heat (and some library staff members) in Munchkin, Machi Koro, Oni Tama, and more! Program geared towards ages 12-19, participants are invited to bring their own board games to share as well!

Monday, July 3:

Patriotic Flying Eagle Craft: Celebrate the Fourth with an American eagle with flapping wings! Pick up this take-home craft in the Children’s Room all week while supplies last.

Tuesday, July 4:

The library is closed for the Fourth of July holiday.

Wednesday, July 5:

Craft Club, 6 pm: Join us for a free craft night for adults on the first Wednesday of each month. This month, we will be painting wildflowers. To register, call the Circulation Desk at 508-324-2700, ext. 2. Sponsored by the Friends of the Fall River Public Library.

Thursday, July 6:

Teen Game Night, 6 pm: Join us on the first Thursday of every month for our ongoing Teen Game Night! A handful of consoles and multiplayer games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Super Mario Party will be available. We have a Nintendo Switch. Bringing your own handheld devices and controllers is encouraged, the more the merrier!

Friday, July 7:

Summer Reading Kickoff, 11 am: Join us for the starting event of our annual summer reading club on the library’s front lawn! Bring a picnic blanket and snacks and enjoy the amazingly talented John McDonough and his Pumpernickel Puppets! Bugsy the puppet will be introducing his kooky pals in the fast-moving, thoroughly engaging variety show. There will be music, silly skits, and PLENTY of outrageous puppets! Kids age 13 and under can also sign up for the library’s 7-week summer reading club. In case of rain, this event will be held indoors.

Just a reminder: the library is closed on Saturdays during the summer.
