What to Expect at the Democratic National Convention

The Democratic National Convention begins Monday in Chicago. Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will become the party’s standard bearers heading into the November election.

During the most recent taping of our program looking at the history of presidential elections Bristol Community College Associate Professor of History and Government Don Kilguss says Democrats need to quickly pivot its focus to spotlight celebrating a Harris/Walz ticket following the withdrawal from the race by President Biden.

Unlike the recently completed Republican National Convention, the Democrats will likely rely on former presidents to rally the country around the Harris/Walz ticket.

Mr. Kilguss says with a short window until the election, the convention will need to focus on re-introducing Vice President Harris to the American people.
