As temperatures are ex[ected to below freezing this weekend, the City of Fal River is alerting residents to locations they can shelter and stay warm.

(FALL RIVER, MA- January 21st, 2022)- In response to the upcoming cold weather, the First Step Inn and the Timao Center, Fall River’s overflow homeless shelter, are prepared to accommodate anyone in need of shelter. Those seeking services should contact the First Step Inn by calling 508-679-8001 or 508-974-9972. The First Step Inn is located at 134 Durfee Street, Fall River, MA 02720.

Tomorrow, Saturday, January 22nd a temporary, drop-in warming shelter will be open at the Christ the Rock Assembly of God Church (414 Rock St) from 7:30am-3:30pm. After 3:30pm, the City’s overflow shelter will be open and all residents at the warming center will be given assistance in accessing overnight shelter.

The location at Christ of Rock Assembly of God Church will be used for all of the City’s temporary warming shelters for the remainder of winter on any days with anticipated temperatures below 30° Fahrenheit. Residents may monitor the City of Fall River Facebook page or call the Mayor’s Office at 508-324-2600 for updates but can expect the center on Rock St to be open all days with temperatures below 30°.
