Coordinator, Mass in Motion – Fall River

Everybody walk! Tudo mundo Anda! Todo el mundo Caminan!

Mass in Motion – Fall River, and its partners at SSTAR, SouthCoast Health System, and Saint Anne’s will be holding walks this spring into summer starting on Tuesday, April 24th, and Saturday, April 30th. Staff of these organizations will lead the walks.

Mass in Motion led walks throughout 2017, but this time there is an effort to make the walks more inclusive. There will be at least one or two groups each week that are bi-lingual, with Spanish and Portuguese speaking leaders. Vanessa Vieria Monteiro is an Outreach Worker with Stanley Street Treatment and Resource Center. Vanessa is originally from Cape Verde and Speaks Portuguese, Portuguese Creole and Spanish. All ages and abilities are also welcome to join in.

On Tuesdays at noon, and Saturdays at 9:00 AM, walkers meet at the Britland Park entrance to the Alfred J. Lima Quequechan River Rail Trail. (Park in the Wordell Street Parking lot off of Plymouth Avenue.) Participants can walk as far as they like on the Trail, and at a comfortable pace.

Also on Tuesdays, at 5:30 PM, Michael See, Certified Diabetes Educator at SouthCoast, will lead a walk starting at Battleship Cove. (Meet at the bridge near the carousel.)

Other groups may be forming as the weather improves. Inclement weather cancels walk.
