Fall River voters tonight voted in favor of overriding Proposition 2 1/2 for the purpose of funding the construction of a new BMC Durfee High School.
The unofficial tally of today’s special election saw those in favor of the override garner 4,941 votes (61 percent) compared with 3,136 who voted no (39 percent).
The city asked voters to override Proposition 2 1/2 to cover $98 million of the $263 million cost for the new high school. The city will receive $165 million from the state to cover the remainder of the project.
