Horizons for Homeless Children (Horizons), a nonprofit dedicated to serving homeless children, is looking for volunteers to play with children who reside in shelters in Southeastern Massachusetts.
Horizons currently serves more than 1,600 young homeless children in Massachusetts through three early education centers and through its Playspace Program, consisting of more than 90 play spaces based in shelters. The program gives children in shelters an opportunity to enjoy play experiences while gaining essential social and cognitive skills.
An increase in children experiencing homelessness has caused an increased need for volunteers in Fall River, according to the organization. Volunteers are needed for two-hour weekly shifts in the Playspace Program, and training will be provided. The next training will take place on October 18th in Bourne.
