The unofficial end of summer is a couple of weeks away but tourism efforts in Southeastern Massachusetts happen year round.
The Southeastern Massachusetts Visitors Bureau has been in existence for decades and serves the tourism interests of the cities and towns in Bristol County.
Chrisanne Tyrrell was hired as executive director earlier this year and she works hand in hand with the regional chambers of commerce and is funded partly through the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism. Much of the work in marketing the region is rarely, if ever, seen by those who live on the SouthCoast.
Ms. Tyrrell, as the lone employee of the bureau, relies on connections within the county’s cities and towns to devise a schedule of events that can be promoted to prospective visitors.
The bureau recently launched an updated website with targeted event information.
As Ms. Tyrrell becomes more familiar with her new role, she expects to take advantage of state and regional assets and events to attract visitors to Bristol County.
