Dragons Take Wing at the Fall River Public Library
If you would like to put more heat into your summer sizzle, you may do so by visiting the Fall River Public Library’s exhibit of dragons located outside the Children’s Room and on the library’s main floor. The exhibit featuring five original sculptures is on display now until Friday, August 25.
The dragons are the work of local artist and children’s librarian, David R. Mello, and are inspired by the various descriptions of these auspicious creatures found throughout the world in legend and myth. Each piece is hand-sculpted, kiln-fired and then painted in acrylic colors. The five dragons on display are part of a broader project which will eventually include 40 different representations in total, all of which will be displayed at a future date.
Four of the five dragons on display are made possible by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
For further information, contact David R. Mello at 508-324-2700 ext. 4 or visit the library’s website at fallriverlibrary.org.
