Those who follow politics in Fall River are aware that Mayor Paul Coogan is running for a second term and will be challenged by City Council President Cliff Ponte. But there are two other candidates running for mayor in the September 21st Preliminary Election.
Jonathan Albernaz threw his hat into the race after seeing how the government has handled the COVID-19 pandemic.
If elected Albernaz is looking to hold the line on increasing taxes and fees.
Albernaz is also looking to find a way to bring back Fall River Celebrates America, the festival held over many summers on the waterfront.
Also on the ballot is Michael Vandal. He is looking to expand economic development opportunities specifically by introducing the region to the benefits of holistic dentistry.
So what other issues does Vandal hope to address?
Vadal understands he is an underdog in the race…but he remains hopeful.
