The Portuguese custard tart pastel de nata is featured in many a bakery in Fall River and New Bedford. But which bakery makes it the best? Viva Fall River, Destination New Bedford and New Bedford Food Tours want to find out…and they need your help.
The organizations are sponsoring a Pasteis De Nata Throw-Down during the month of February where patrons can sample and vote for the best in the SouthCoast. Viva Fall River director Patti Rego says it’s a fun partnership between the area’s Gateway Cities.
We visited Europa Bakery & Coffee Shop, one of the six Fall River bakeries in the contest. The bakery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with its pastel de nata being a local favorite.
To vote for the bakery you feel has the best Pastel De Nata, visit https://nbfoodtours.com/throwdown. Ms. Rego says the winner will be crowned at the end of the month.
