The Watuppa Rowing Center is once again gearing up for a full slate of summer programs that are catered to kids and adults.
The center is working with the United Way of Greater Fall River to offer its United We Row program, where kids in grades seven through twelve can take part in the sport free of charge.
A limit of 20 students is allowed to register for the United We Row program for each two-week cycle that begins on July 3rd. The center is also working with the Fall River public schools on its STEM to Stern program which ties rowing and the science behind it.
Ms. Cardillo says rowing is a sport that is not often available to youngsters in an urban setting but can teach them life-building skills.
Students who thrive during the summer programs can continue on to the center’s free, year-long junior program.
The center also offers a rowing program for adults of all ages and skill levels. Coach Jeff Soares says the adults he has worked with learn just as much about their abilities as the youngsters.
