Residents got their first look this week at what the state has in mind for the reconstruction of Route 79. Mass DOT Director of Major Projects Michael O’Dowd says work to reconstruct the state road from Brightman Street south to The Cove Restaurant will begin in earnest later this year.
When complete the new configuration will open up nearly 19 acres of land the City of Fall River can use to expand economic development opportunities on the waterfront.
