Even though Fall River School Superintendent Matthew Malone has announced his intention to resign on November 1, school committee member Kevin Aguiar feels Malone should be terminated immediately.
The next scheduled school committee meeting is set for June 14. Aguiar says the committee needs to take action before then.
It is unclear whether Mayor Paul Coogan, who chairs the school committee, will call for a special meeting.
Malone was investigated earlier this year after allegations were made that he acted inappropriately in front of staff.
Following the investigation, the school committee voted to retain the superintendent while cutting his pay and inserting a clause allowing for his dismissal without cause. Aguiar believes the district will be best served by removing Malone now.
