Last week The Salvation Army launched its annual kettle fundraising campaign for the holiday season. In greater Fall River the famous red kettles can be found outside storefronts throughout the season.
The Fall River kick-off took place outside of the Fall River Market Basket at SouthCoast Marketplace. Captain Alexis Castillo says this year’s fundraising goal for the local corps is $95,000.
Captain Casillo says this holiday season The Salvation Army Fall River Community Center will provide assistance to over 500 local residents in need through a local toy distribution on December 14 and 15 and a holiday dinner on December 21.
Funds collected this month will also be spent during the year on a myriad of community programs sponsored by The Salvation Army.
Captain Castillo says the organization is still in need of volunteers to staff the kettles or help with other holiday activities. For more information, you can call 508.679.7900.
