Local health officials continue to promote the need for parents to consider getting their children ages 5-11 vaccinated.
Dr. Eric Vaught of the HealthFirst Family Care Center says the Pfizer vaccine for young children is different than for adults but just as safe.
Dr. Vaught understands that parents may be more reluctant to trust the vaccine for their children than for themselves. He says the benefits of taking the vaccine far outweigh any side effects
Dr. Vaught says no one should be concerned about getting the COVID vaccine along with the seasonal flu shot or other immunizations.
Dr. Vaught says the uncertainty of the upcoming winter makes it important, for those who can get a COVID-19 booster 6 months after their last COVID vaccination.
