The preliminary election for mayor is a little over three weeks away and City Council President Cliff Ponte is beginning to lay out his plans for the office if elected.
During a press briefing this week, Ponte laid out how he plans to govern, if elected, during his first 100 days in office…with a focus on fiscal responsibility.
Ponte accused Mayor Paul Coogan of having no plan when it comes to city finances and cautioned voters the mayor may begin collecting more taxes as soon as this fall to pay for the new BMC Durfee High School.
Among the other initiatives for his first 100 days will be to improve the police presence on city streets and making changes to reform local schools.
