Since the onset of the pandemic in March, the United Way of Greater Fall River has been a leader in organizing and funding local organizations servicing those in need.
Executive Director Kim Smith says once the state was shut down on March 13th the United Way began forming a collaboration of local service organizations to meet the emergency needs of the region. Nine months later, the collaboration continues with an eye toward being proactive rather than reactive.
The organizations serving the community during the pandemic has focused on the issues of food security and helping those impacted meet basic needs. The United Way has provided support through the allocation of thousands of dollars raised through its United We Help COVID-19 Relief Fund.
As we enter a new year, the work of the United Way continues and support is still needed. You can find out more about the United Way’s COVID-19 relief efforts at uwgfr.org.
