The new chief medical officer at the HealthFirst Family Care Center says even though people are focused on curbing the spread of COVID-19, they also need to pay attention to other health care concerns.
Dr. Eric Vaught joined the HealthFirst team in July. He says the center has and will continue to play an active role in diagnosing potential COVID-19 infections, even though it no longer serves as a drive-up “Stop the Spread” testing site.
Dr. Vaught says the rate of infection at the center mirrors the citywide rate of about 15 to 16 percent.
Since the onset of the pandemic, Dr. Vaught says people have become more isolated and have been fearful, or unwilling, to seek proper medical care for other ailments that may arise, a condition that may have long-lasting community health consequences.
