Taunton independent candidate Melanie Patenaude Layden is looking to become the next Register of the Probate and Family Court. She faces Democrat and current Interim Register Thomas Hoye in the November 3rd election.

Ms. Layden has been a local lawyer for over 25 years. She feels being the only attorney in the race gives her an advantage in meeting the needs of those who seek the appropriate services from the courts.
Ms. Layden feels the registry has made strides in the accessibility of court information and the holding of hearings remotely, mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of that, she believes the office should not lose the benefit of meeting clients in person.
