The position of Fall River City Administrator has been vacant for well over a year. Mayor Paul Coogan still has the intention to make an appointment.
During his weekly appearance with FRCMedia last Thursday, the mayor indicated he has an individual in mind to fill the position and would be speaking with members of the city council about his choice.
Despite being a politically appointed position and with 2021 being a re-election year for him, the mayor said he still wants to move forward with a selection as soon as possible
Mayor Coogan attempted to fill the position last year, putting forth for city council consideration former Millbury Town Administrator Michael Marciello. But shortly before the vote on his appointment, Mr. Marciello withdrew his name from consideration after some councilors questioned his departure from his previous position in Millbury.
Mr. Marciello signed a separation agreement with the Town of Millbury in August of 2019 after serving as town administrator for over two years. Details of the separation were not publicly disclosed.
The city has been without a city administrator since late 2019 following the departure of former administrator Cathy Ann Viveiros.
