Mayor Paul Coogan this week submitted an FY 2022 budget for the water and sewer departments to the city council. Included is a proposed increase in water and sewer rates as well as a hike in the stormwater fee.

Under the plan, the mayor is proposing to raise sewer rates by $.07 and water rates by $.05. The sewer rate will increase from $5.59/ccf to $5.66/ccf. The water rate will rise from $3.43/ccf to $3.48/ccf. One ccf equals 748 gallons. The city is also seeking a $1.00 increase to the stormwater fee from $46.00/ERU to $47.00/ERU.

Mayor Coogan says at this time those increases are a placeholder and may be offset by federal stimulus funds.

The impact on rates for an average family using, 109 galls per day, would be an increase of $10.36 for the year or $.86 per month.

The city council still needs to approve any fee increase before it goes into effect.
