As many school districts in our region struggle with teaching and learning through the pandemic, the schools within the Diocese of Fall River remain committed to its model of primarily in-person instruction.
Diocesan Superintendent Daniel Roy says all but one of the district’s elementary schools are teaching children in-person while adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols. He says instances of infections have been low with detailed plans on dealing with outbreaks.
Mr. Roy says with students from across southeastern Massachusetts attending the Diocese’s twenty Catholic schools, it was important to build collaborative relationships with local health officials.
With classes at the midway point of the school year, Mr. Roy says students and teachers deserve credit for their perseverance.
Bishop Connolly High School Principal Kathleen St.Laurent says the school has maintained its hybrid learning approach.
As with the rest of the district, COVID infections at Bishop Connolly have remained low.
Even though the pandemic has made this school year different, what will remain is celebrating student success later this spring.
