The Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition (FRACC) will be seeking input on its recently completed Fall River Arts & Culture Creative Economy Plan. A public meeting to launch the plan will be held Monday from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the Narrows Center for the Arts.
The plan was commissioned by FRACC a year ago in an effort to create a comprehensive path to promote and foster arts and culture in Fall River.
FRACC will oversee the plan’s implementation. Ms. Rego says the six goals and 27 strategies will serve as a blueprint on how the city can use art as a catalyst for future economic activity and growth. It identified over 40 arts and culture organizations, 29 educational institutions, and over 50 community organizations as assets that can benefit from a comprehensive arts and culture plan.
Among the challenges the city faces that are outlined in the plan; the cynicism of detractors; disjointed efforts on initiatives with no cohesion; and the lack of a tourism and arts and culture coordinator. Also missing is steady funding for arts along with affordable artist spaces and involvement by youth.
Ms. Rego is hopeful the plan will provide opportunities to stimulate arts and culture activity across the city.
