Fall River use to have an amazing affordable housing availability but now since past few years it is no longer. Fall River has always been a place where those working minimum wage could get by and atleast afford an apartment even those on SSI income could afford a place. Fast forward a few years to now and you need to make 60k or more to survive. The housing complexes are full and the lists are 2 years long or more and all new complexes are not created for affordable living. The new complexes or existing dont even offer working credit programs to go 60% income. I make 23 an hour which is a little higher then average for this area and don’t qualify for any assistance but can barely afford my monthly bills. There needs to be change implemented and a cap based on market on what Sec 8 would cover and this area most apartments are more then what Sec 8 will approve and as a resident for my entire life where do we go all us residents who can barely get by are being pushed to move or become homeless
