Sentencing took place yesterday in U.S. District Court in Boston for David Hebert, the final co-conspirator who pled guilty in the case of former mayor Jasiel Correia.
Judge Rya Zobel sentenced Hebert to serve three years probation, pay a fine of $25,000 and pay a forfeiture of $61,000, the amount of money he received related to his charges of extortion and conspiracy in Correia’s shakedown of money from potential recreational marijuana vendors.
Local attorney Steven Sabra says Hebert’s sentence falls in line with two other co-conspirators who also pled guilty and cooperated with prosecutors, Antonio Costa and Hildigar Camara.
Correia is in the process of appealing his convictions in the case.
