If you’ve been by Government Center this week you may have noticed a sculpture being installed on the building’s southwest corner.
Former Fall River city councilor Steven Camara pitched the idea for the sculpture to city native and artist Barney Zeitz. Zeitz sees the project as a way to reflect the history of the people of Fall River titling the piece “Cornerstone Sculpture Project About Diversity”.
Zeitz says the project took two full years to complete with material that was sourced locally.
About $150,000 has been raised for the project thus far…
Zeitz hopes this project will spur the expansion of the fine arts within the City of Fall River.
The sculpture will be dedicated at a ceremony to be held Sunday, September 12 at noon.
