Bristol County is looking to share a portion of its $110 million in American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds with the 20 cities and towns within its jurisdiction.
Fall River Bristol County Commissioner John Mitchell says the eligible uses for money in the ARPA program are not within the purview of county government in Massachusetts, and the money could be better spent by cities and towns. He said the county will still keep some of the funding to improve county buildings impacted by COVID-19.
Mitchell says the money available to cities and towns will be administered by the county.
