Citizens for Citizens (CFC) in Fall River is seeking donations for its annual Operation Christmas campaign providing gifts for local needy children.

The goal of Operation Christmas is to make toys and clothing available to families in need in the Fall River and Taunton areas so all children can enjoy a traditional holiday.  CFC Director of Community Resources Chrystal Arpa says the agency provides gifts to over 6,000 children across its service area.  She says in the face of COVID-19 many people who have been supporters of the giving campaign will not be able to help this year.

With the financial impacts of this year in mind, Ms. Arpa says she expects there will be a greater need to serve more families.

The deadline for families to apply for assistance is Thursday, December 10. Ms. Arpa says the greatest need is for the donation of new, unwrapped toys for distribution. She will accept aid right up to Christmas Eve, but as of now, donations have lagged.

Hours to drop off donations are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. For more information visit the Operation Christmas website or call (508) 679-0041.
