The Greater Fall River Partners for a Healthier Community this week announced that Durfee High School Senior Soleei Gausp has been selected as the 2022 Youth of the Year.
Gausp’s family came to the United States from Costa Rica and she will be the first in her family to attend college. Gausp hopes to attend Barnard College and Columbia University to study computational biology. She is so grateful for the support she has received through her years as a student in Fall River that she hopes to give back to the city in the future.
The Youth of the Year Award announcement comes as part of Absolutely Incredible Kid Day, a national holiday to celebrate encouragement.
McCloskey says the city has been involved in Absolutely Incredible Kid Day for many years and it has been well received.
