The Fall River Commission on Disability is seeking support in the passage of a bill in the state legislature that will clarify the responsibility of manufacturers in ensuring swift action for those needing repairs to wheelchairs.
Commission chairperson Dennis Polselli says the bill seeking wheelchair warranty protections for consumers with disabilities will set clear guidelines as to how wheelchair manufacturers must respond to requests for repair.
Mr. Polselli says the limited number of wheelchair manufacturers has made it difficult to seek help for those in need.
The bill is currently before the state senate in the committee on ways and means chaired by Senator Michael Rodrigues.
