Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker joined other state and local leaders today in Freetown to celebrate the construction completion of the Fall River secondary line of SouthCoast Rail.
The Governor helped cut the ribbon on the completion of the new MBTA station in Freetown. He says elected leaders in SouthCoast should be commended for their continued advocacy in making the resumption of rail service a reality.
MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak says the completion of the Fall River line puts the project in line to begin offering passenger service late next year.
State Senator Michael Rodrigues says SouthCoast Rail has been given lip service for over 30 years and the leadership of the current state administration has been the one to make it a reality
