The Fall River Elections Commission is making final preparations for a safe in-person voting experience for city voters for the September 1 State Primary.
Elections Commission Chairwoman Kelly Souza-Young says the city is taking every precaution to make in-person voting this fall safe for all residents wishing to cast ballots. The city will begin hosting a week of early voting for the September 1 State primary this Saturday. Here is the schedule for early voting in Fall River. All voters who wish to vote early must do so at the atrium in Government Center. Please use the Sullivan Drive entrance.
- Saturday, August 22: 8am – 2pm
- Sunday, August 23: 8am – 2pm
- Monday, August 24: 9am -5pm
- Tuesday, August 25: 9am -5pm
- Wednesday, August 26: 9am -5pm
- Thursday, August 27: 9am -5pm
- Friday, August 28: 9am -2pm
Ms. Souza-Young says the city has worked hard to ensure the early voting location is safe, meeting all state health guidelines in conjunction with the COVID-19 pandemic.
When it comes to election day on September 1, Ms. Souza-Young says all precincts within the city will be open as scheduled, again, with safety in mind.
Ms. Souza-Young also says the city is processing nearly 7,000 mail-in and absentee ballot applications, with ballots arriving in homes soon. The early numbers indicate a higher voter turnout for the primary.
Fall River residents who have not yet registered to vote in advance of the primary may still do so through Saturday, August 22. The city will accept new registrations between 8am and 4pm then again between 6pm and 8pm on Saturday. New voters who register during the early voting period on Saturday may also be able to cast their ballot in the primary at the same time they register. The deadline to make a request for a mail or absentee ballot for the primary is August 26.
