Businesses and interested parties on Fall River’s waterfront had a chance last week to meet with city leaders to share their concerns on improving the Waterfront Cultural District.
Fall River’s Creative Arts Network (CAN) is the managing entity of the district and organized the meeting with city department heads, the mayor’s office and other regional government agencies.
CAN Executive Director Sandra Dennis says traffic concerns on the waterfront remain a problem, particularly as the reconstruction of Rte. 79 continues. Of immediate concern is Anawan Street.
Another problem associated with the Rte. 79 project is parking.
Other topics under discussion at last week’s meeting were general cleanliness within the district and how the city can take over and refurbish the piazza across from Santo Christo Church on Columbia Street.
The Dennisses were pleased by the respectful nature of the discussion and a shared interest to get problems solved.
