The Fall River City Council last night gave its stamp of approval to Mayor Paul Coogan’s $374.9 million dollar budget for the fiscal year that begins on July 1.
Michelle Dionne was the lone councilor to vote no on a majority of the spending plan, citing concerns that there are some administrative positions in the budget that pay more than what is dictated by the city ordinance.
City administrator Seth Aitken says there is an explanation for the discrepancies.
Councilor Dionne disagrees, pointing out that there are instances when people are hired and initially paid above the salary set by the city ordinance.
