For the last five years, the Creative Arts Network has worked with the city in planting hydrangea shrubs, beautifying the city while tying the culture of the Azores with that of Fall River.
David LaLima has been one of the organizers of the project and says maintaining hydrangea shrubs year-round in Fall River is a challenge.
Mayor Paul Coogan has proclaimed June 25 as Hydrangea Day in Fall River.
