Mayor Paul Coogan yesterday announced the formation of a veterans advisory committee and the allocation of $100,000 to 18 local veteran service organizations.
Representatives of veterans groups and members of the new advisory committee see the announcement as a way to include more voices in how veterans are being served by the city.
The advisory committee consists of the following permanent members: the city administrator, the director of veterans’ services, the executive director of the USS Massachusetts Memorial Association and the City Council’s veterans’ liaison. Ten additional members have been appointed by Mayor Coogan:
- Emiliano Ramos- Marine Corps/National Guard Veteran
- Joseph Marshall- Air Force Veteran
- Carlene Barrett- GHold Star Parent
- Robert Guinan- Army Veteran
- Trott Lee- Air Force Veteran
- Charles Denmead- Army Veteran
- Anna Martinez-Stanford- Air Force Veteran
- Kathy Splinter- Army Veteran
- Alan Silvia- Marine Corps Veteran
- Rene Brown- Local Attorney
